back in dc

d was travelling through the south (virginia, south carolina, georgia) for a week. by greyhound bus. well, it seems if you are not totally broke, you wouldn't do that. anyways. air conditions. they are crazy. i know this is well known. but still. i was going 16 hours by bus. freezing.

savannah is soooo beautiful. i loved it.
charleston is pretty, too. some pretty amazing mansions there.

they are not over the civil war yet. their heroic talking about war is worrying anyways.
i stayed in a hostel in charelston to save money. jordan, a californian guy working in spain, shared a room with me. he was snorring like hell. i ended up sleeping on the kitchen floor.
which wasn't too bad actually.

i feel a little bit bad, cause i was so prejudiced before i came here. but of course, you meet nice people everywhere. shame on me.

savannah mansions

the squirrl is here

i also have seen deer today. the national gallery of art is quite impressive. and it's free of admission. a very nice clifford still. nice van goghs and lot's of dutch and italian old paintings. it's a good and quiet place. saves you from the city.
i found a supermarket. it's called giant. and i have found an atm that accepts maestro. i won't starve.

daniella in squirrl land

d has arrived to the land of the free.
the land of the free squirlls. i am living in a shared house. i share it with 5 other people.
the house is situated on the campus of the university of maryland. i am surrounded by squirrles and students and fraternity houses.
the squirrles scurry around for food, the students do lots of jogging around the block.

the students look like on telly.

washington - at least georgetwonw, the part i have seen, is a nice town. lots of green. lots of cute houses with lovely front yards. d likes that.

i had a FANTASTIC muesli for breakfast. a birkner muesli.

i guess this shared house thing will be something like an erasmus thing.

an astonishing fact: huge cars ... huge space still pretty small staircases and rooms and bathrooms. like in the uk. there is enough space here, why having a 3 m2 bathroom?

i have been strolling around georgetown today. checking out the shopping area. not so bad. h&m. body shop. zara. felt like home. i was even told (haven't seen it by myself yet) there is aldi.

still feeling the jet lag, I woke up at 5 this morning. maybe i will take some pictures today.

very american: there is the uni campus round here. there is also the uni campus shoppin center.
many shops. many restaurants and bars. but you cannot buy food. there's only a seven eleven, where you can buy all sort's of stuff but nothing to cook with.

so one task for today: find the supermarket.

good morning europe.
