trois jours à zagreb
the conference in zagreb was, well, short. i got two know one very interesting person: holger nielsen from denmark. a truley incredible man. his talk was overwhelming. maybe not so much from the physic's point of view but the performance was striking. my eardrums got almost ripped. carlos, please send me the video documentation of this event.
zagreb itself: a like it a lot. nothing special when it comes to sights. however, the town has got some flair. very lively. not many tourists which makes it much more likeable than prague (at least to me). good seafood. yammy. good wine.
journey back. travelling by train. i have bought my return-ticket in vienna. alas, when michael and me were on our way home we went via hungary instead of slovenia. my ticket was not valid. and of course i had not thought about such subtleties before. united europe after all. so i had to buy a ticket from the porter on the train. that ticket was valid until the croatian hungarian border.
there i was. gyekenyes. somewhere in the middle of nowhere. the lady at the counter doesn't speak english of course. hungarian is a language so much different that you can't even guess what signs mean. of course i don't have forint with me. nor would they take euros. i have 15 min. no creditcards. no cashpoint.
however, the nice croatian porter turns out to be also an exchange office. i can buy forint and thus a ticket and a safe return without any discussion to vienna.

i have finished parts of a lenghty indices contraction game. now it looks nice. i wont't touch it anymore. better not check it again and worsen the result.
